There is a development on FSSAI’s previous decision regarding the labeling requirements of pre-packaged food which came in the year 2019. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued the Food Safety and Standards (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020, which outline the requirements for pre-packaged food labeling and the display of critical information on premises where food is manufactured, processed, served, and stored. According to them FSSAI rules for packaging , the Food Business Operator (FBO) must comply with all provisions of these regulations one year after their publication in the Official Gazette, with the exception of Chapter 3 (display of information in foodservice establishments), which the FBO must comply by January 1, 2022.
